Opal Rings
At Sunriseopals we believe that an opal ring is perfect if you want to stand out of the crowd, no other stone can bring you the range of colour, pattern or shape that an opal can. This opens up many options for unique design, a freeform opal gives you the room to play with a variety of shanks ( the ring part of your ring ) as seen in the below examples you can have a traditional fine shanked ring, a multi shanked ring or one of many wide shanked designs for your ring.

We can then look at whether the ring has a claw set opal or a bezel set opal, It is also possible to have a semi claw and semi bezel set opal aswell. As you can see the below Ring is bezel set on the top and bottom and claw set either side!!!

As a ring is worn on your hands unlike a pendant or earrings they are subject to many bumps and knocks thus we would recommend a fine shanked ring not be worn during hard labour as they can bend and move out of shape quite easily which dose increase the chance of your opal becoming loose in the setting. Also a bezel set ring is much more protective of your stone and eleviates the common problem of claws catching on clothing. Fine shanked rings and claw set rings are ideal as dress rings. The wider shanked rings and bezel set rings are ideal fore every day wear and that is what we would always recommend, wear your opal ring as much as possible to show it off and enjoy your prized piece of jewellery.
